Solid State Drive
A Solid-State Drive (SSD), also called Solid-State Disc, is a storage medium which can be installed and addressed like a conventional hard disc.
It contains no rotating disc or other moving parts, as only solid-state memory modules of similarly large capacity are used.
Application field:
For High-End PCs
• Fast booting, loading and opening of files
• Easy installation into the existing SATA drive bay
Customer/Industry Systems
• Less susceptible to impact or vibrations
• No noise build-up
• Fast access to data
Storage Arrays
• Less electricity consumption, less heat build-up and hence less cooling energy required.
• A drastic reduction in cost compared with conventional hard discs.
Harsh Environment
• Extreme temperatures may have a negative impact on the service life of an HDD.
• SSDs have no moving parts and are more robust.
